2018 Summer Camps at IMOGAP

We've got six one week camps this year.

Each camp has 12 spots available.

Day Camps at IMOGAP run from 10 am to 4 pm, Monday thru Friday. Lunch is provided, but if your child has dietary restrictions, please send lunch with them. Campers are welcome to hang out at the museum until they can be picked up.

Cost is $120 for the week (5 days, Mon - Fri) or $35 per day for drop-ins. Please call the museum (503-998-9998) before coming down, in order to confirm day spots are available.

Games of the World: Summer Day Camp 1
(Mon. July-2 to Fri. July-6)
We will play games from all over the world, and from every age. We'll start with ancient games, then play some medieval games, move forward into the 19th century, and finish with some modern games. Learn and play with us. Recommended ages for this camp are between 8 and 14 years old. Register for this camp here

RPGs and LARPS: Summer Day Camp 2
(Mon. July-16 to Fri. July-20)
Pencil and Paper Role Playing Games (RPGs) are some of the most fun to be had without a winner. And then there's dressing up and pretending to be a wizard, thief or bard for Live Action Role Play (LARPs). Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, or GURPs, it's all free choice story games. Our Camp will focus on beginners - introducing players to the basics of character creation and adventuring in a magical world. We will learn about dice rolls, interaction, game masters, and story resolution as we play together. Ages 10 - 16 welcome. Register for this camp here

Game Designers Camp: Summer Day Camp 3
(Mon. July-30 to Fri. Aug-3)
This camp is for anyone who'd like to design a board game. We'll survey many types of game, and many principles of game design. Participants will design a board game, create a prototype, develop rules for their game, and share their game with friends and family on the Saturday Aug. 4th. The curriculum will fulfill the requirements for a Boy Scout Merit Badge in game design, so any participants who are also boy scouts can receive their badge from this class. Odd Sports and Weird Games: Summer Day Camp 4
(Mon. Aug-6 to Fri. Aug-10)
Disc Golf, Juggling, Croquet, and Hopscotch are some of the odd sports we're going to play during this camp. And we'll play some weird games too, like Alien Autopsy, Blurt, and Cosmic Encounter. Recommended ages for this camp are between 8 and 14 years old. Register for this camp here

Codes, Ciphers, and Logic: Summer Day Camp 5
(Mon. Aug-20 to Fri. Aug-24)
At this camp we'll concentrate on codes and logic games. Nine Men's Morris, Go, Conundrums, and Scotland Yard are all games that reward clear thinking. We'll look at some mathematical history as well. Recommended ages for this camp are between 8 and 14 years old. Register for this camp here

Juggling and Magic: Summer Day Camp 6
(Mon. Aug-27 to Fri. Aug-31)
Manipulation means to handle something with your hands. Prestidigitation means fast fingers. Misdirection means to encourage others to watch the wrong thing. Join us to learn about sleight of hand, card tricks, ball juggling, passing, balancing, contact juggling, cigar boxes, and more. Ages 8 - 16 welcome. Register for this camp here
